Custom emojis

Community-owned :shortcodes: — uploading, naming, limits and how deletion behaves.

Community admins manage custom emojis in the Emojis tab: upload an image (animated GIFs keep their animation), give it a :shortcode: and an optional display name for pickers and autocomplete.

• They appear alongside Unicode in the picker and autocomplete for that community — messages and reactions alike.
• Size, dimensions and allowed formats come from the server’s attachment settings.
• Emojis are community-scoped: other communities and direct messages don’t see them.
• Deleting an emoji also removes the reactions using it — timelines update live.
