Access-controlled channels, member and group grants, private communities and invite links.

Private channels

Mark a channel private and it disappears for everyone without a grant — not greyed out, invisible: sidebar, search results, permalinks and member lists all respect the boundary.

Access is granted in the channel’s access modal, two ways:

• Individual members — picked by name.
• User groups — grant a team in one move; group membership changes propagate automatically.

Community admins and moderators see private channels by role; server admins by their global role.

The channel’s members modal lists who has access; members can also leave a private channel from there — regaining access then requires a fresh grant.

Private communities

A whole community can be private: it doesn’t appear in the catalogue and can’t be joined directly — members arrive through invite links.

Invites are shareable tokens with an optional expiry and use limit — mint one for a hiring round, cap it at five uses, let it lapse. Community admins create and revoke them.
